They started to play and get experience but in 1965 Javier and Miguel left the band, so they took Paco Quero as a bass player and decided not to have a pianist anymore. They continued playing and got a lot of experience in places like Torremolinos, where they used to play every night.
They got a big success in 1966 when they published the song "Canto a lo español".
They played in Madrid, where they were seen by a producer who liked them and asked them to join his record company. Then they changed their name to "Los Angeles" (The Angels).
They started to record covers of famous hits of the time, such as "98.6" (by keith) or "Dime dime" (cover of American Breed's "Bend me shape me"). Here you have both songs and their lyrics in Spanish (original version) and English (translated by me):

They not only made covers of hits, they also made their own songs, primarily in Spanish, though they have some song which is recorded in both Spanish and English.
They even appeared in two movies: "A 45 Revoluciones Por Minutos" ("45 rpm") and "1, 2, 3, al escondite inglés" ("1, 2, 3, hide and seek"). In the first one they appear together with other musicians and bands of the time such as Juan Pardo or Formula V. The second movie is a crazy story in which videoclips from some bands are included, being "Créeme" (English version "Please believe me") by Los Angeles one of them.
They had a big success in Spain as their songs had great lyrics and they had a great vocal harmony. They recorded romantic songs together with pop tunes, so they had a big variety of songs always inside their distinctive style.

In 1972, Agustín left the band and was replaced by José Luis Avellaneda.
The band lasted til 1976, year in which Poncho and Avellaneda sadly died in a car crash.
Nowadays, the band is together again playing live with Popi, Poncho's son, replacing his father.
For me, Los Angeles is a very special band, one of my favourites, and all of their songs are brilliant pieces. I recommend all of you to listen not only to these songs listed here, but also all the other ones they recorded, cause it is really worth it!
